Almost everything about this film is perfect, from the well defined characters and the compelling plot. It soon dies, and she is left deserted in a forest far from home, now truly alone save for the cries of a single baby off in the distance. Caught in the midst of the attack, Maquia is carried off by one of the Renato that has gone berserk. The same time flows differently for two people. However, Maquia remains the same girl even as the clocks tick by. There she finds a lonely baby without parents. With an empty feeling, she wanders the forest. Even though Maquia manages to escape, she loses all her friends and her home… Among the despair and confusion, Leilia, the most beautiful of the Eolphs, is taken by the Mezarte and Maquia’s crush, Krim, disappears. In their search for the longevity of the Eolph’s blood, the Mezarte army comes across an old and ancient beast called Renato. In one single moment, the peaceful days of the Eolphs collapse. Maquia, who is an Eolph and has no parents, spends her days surrounded by friends but deep down she has always felt lonely. Those who stop ageing in their mid-teens but end up growing older than a few hundred years are walking legends and are called ‘Wakare no Ichizoku’ – Family of Farewell.
